School is wrapping up around our house…
…and it’s honestly hard to believe how quickly this season of life seems to move.
My oldest just wrapped up junior college at American River and is headed to Chico State this fall.
My stepson is graduating from Del Oro High School this Saturday.
And my youngest is wrapping up his freshman year at Placer High School.
If your household feels anything like ours right now, things probably feel a little busy, exciting, sentimental—and very close to summer.
And while this week has been cooler (in a good way), you can definitely feel warm weather getting closer.
The mornings are nice.
The evenings are stretching out.
The hills are still green (for now).
Over Memorial Day weekend, we had our first official lake day at Folsom Lake and took the kayaks out.
The water was surprisingly warm already—which somehow made summer suddenly feel very real.
It feels like everyone is starting to shift into summer mode.
The “Start of Summer” Feeling Around Placer County
This always feels like one of my favorite little windows of the year around Placer County.
Before the real heat arrives.
Before calendars get packed with vacations and summer activities.
When patios, BBQs, evening walks, lake days, baseball games, backyard projects, and pool days are just starting to ramp up.
You start seeing more people out at parks, trails, patios, and community events.
Neighborhoods just feel different this time of year.
Places like Folsom Lake, Downtown Roseville patios, Auburn trails, neighborhood parks, and local events start filling up as everyone shifts into a more summer-like routine.
How Summer Changes the Way Home Buyers Think
In real estate, this time of year tends to bring a subtle shift as well.
For families, summer is often when conversations about moving become more serious.
Many people want to make a move before the next school year starts, settle into a neighborhood, or simply take advantage of longer days and better weather for house hunting.
Interestingly, buyers often start paying attention to different things this time of year:

✓ Pools and backyard entertaining potential
✓ Covered patios and evening hangout areas

Final Thoughts
Late May and early June have always felt like the unofficial start of summer around here.
A little cooler this week…

Gates Open: 4:00 PM
A full night of NASCAR racing, stock cars, INEX Legends, and a demolition derby at Roseville’s longtime speedway. If you like loud engines and fast laps, this one should be a fun Saturday night outing.
Heat races begin around 5:15 PM, with opening ceremonies at 6:00 PM.
